This Page is for information on the Lion Forge Voltron Legendary Defender comic runs. This page acts as a buyers guide of sorts clearly showing which Volume an issue belongs too, number of varients (not including NYCC exclusives). as well as artist and writer credits for a specific volume.
In the future each issue will have it's own page which trivia and a breakdown of the contents of the issue.
For Issues with Varient covers a Star ★ symbol will be place on the cover thats picture is used on the page.
Volume 1 2016
Chronologically Vol.1 takes place between Epiosode 8 and 9 of Legendary Defender Season 1, it is the only Volume to receive an official comic dub and is the most well known of the 3 being brought up in a 2022 Galaxy Con panel by Bex Taylor who speaks fondly about the events of issue #4 involving Pidge and the Ziggurat.
Identifying which issues are from Vol.1 is easer than the other 2 Volumes due to the use of the old Lion Forge logo and prominant blue numbering in the upper left corner.
Also I was gonna mention how Bex Taylor misspronounces Ziggurat in the comic dub calling it a "Zigger-rat" but apparently the word has two different pronouncations with Bex using the american english one.

Volume 2 Pilgrimage 2017
Taking place at the start of Season 2 between episode 3 and 4. This storyline has the paladin's of Voltron befreind a race of wolf people, Pidge and Lance jokingly call them furries. Hunk gets hit on Coran falls for a goth grandma and Voltron ends up fighting a celestial wolf warrior what more could you want!!!!
My biggest complaint with these comics is the artwork credited to Rubine and heavily refrences screencaps from the show which can be jarring if you're familiar with the scenes their traced from.
Since Volume 1 was made to promote VLD when Season 1 first released I can excuse the at times mediocre art but with the shows established audience and the many talanted artist's involved with Voltron capable of illustrating a VLD comic you'd want the artwork to be on par with fanmade comics at least.
Issue 1 has art done by Jung Gwan and Ji-in Choi this Issue has a distinct style compared to the others I'm curious if the heavily refrenced/traced artwork used in the other issues was either due to deadlines or trying to keep a consitant style with the tv show but that's just me speculating.

Volume 3 Absolution 2018
Taking place in the later half of Season 4 this is the end of Lion Forge's Voltron comic series, plans for a Volume 4 were discussed with it taking place during S7-8 in the timeline.
While the only article about this topic claims that VLD's toxic fans was responsible for the comics end. Most likely the cancellation has to do with Lion Forge merging with Oni Press with the news that Lion Forge was ending the VLD comic happening in the same month as the merger.
However if you consider the comics role as a promotonial tool for the show, now that VLD was over new comics were arguably no longer needed from a corporate perspective.
Team Voltron has been given some special intel by a mysterious person, the paladin's split up with Hunk, Lance and Pidge traveling to Olkarion to create some "Blazing Bolt Cutters" for their secret mission.
The paldin's infiltrate a Galra base with Pidge willingly having their memories erased so they could get captured, meanwhile Hunk and Allura work together to liberate a Galra work camp. Lance and Shiro kick ass take names and help Pidge with their prison break. The last Issue ends with Voltron fighting a giant slug and Allura revealing the identity of the person who gave them the intel mentioned in Issue 1.

The Lion Forge Voltron comic's would also receive multiple international versions with these almost always being omnibus/collected editions, I personally own the German releases of Vol.2 and 3 which is a smaller scale to the English Original and uses a diffrent grain of paper.
ヴォルトロン
The Japanese releases are in my opinion the most intresting of these international versions, mainly due to the Voltron franchises unique history with Japan. Published by Phase 6 in a Tankōbon format with the inclusion of Obi.
They are printed in colour and include a cropped version of Vol.1 #4 cover connected across the spines of the 3 Volumes. Similarly to the English omnibus of Vol.2 having a cover varient if bought from Barnes and Noble the Japanese Volumes have limited edition covers given to people who bought them through Amazon.
Volume 3's Amazon cover uses artwork drawn by Keezy Young and was originally a Limited SDCC cover.
